Frequently Asked Questions
Does UNIQUE E® contain tyrosine? Please rest assured that UNIQUE E® MIXED TOCOPHEROL CONCENTRATE does not contain any tyrosine. (Nor any other amino acid).
Please could you please tell me the dosage for your Vitamin E? How many capsules do I need to take in a day? The dosage recommendations on our website -- Recommended Dosage -- are suggestions from many of the doctors who use and suggest our products. The dosage recommendations are set up to address maintenance, therapeutic, and chronic issues. Doctors and patience have expressed great success by using these as guides. The most important thing to consider when taking Vitamin E is the type of E that you take. The more pure it is, with the least amount of fillers, allergens, colors, wheat, gluten or soy oil, the more bio-available it is to the body. If an E product contains vegetable oil as filler, that oil can turn rancid, thus reducing the beneficial qualities of the product.
My Ob gyn has recommended I up my dosage of Vitamin E to 1,000 I.U. To alleviate the pain from the multiple cysts I get in my left breast when I am near menstruation. Do you have studies that support this high dosage and/or the results that would indicate this to be effective? Your ob/gyn seems to know what she/he is doing in their suggestion to you -- you may wish to discuss your question directly with them. Our dosage recommendations on our website -- Recommended Dosage -- are suggestions from many of the doctors who use and suggest our products. We do not have direct studies available, but we have years of positive results reported by those who use our products. Also there are many reports available on the Internet. I would suggest going to GOOGLE and do a simple search like -- vitamin E and cysts – or -- vitamin E in menstruation.
I use your UNIQUE E® product. I read that most shippers except UPS irradiate their packages which destroys nutrient content. Regarding your question about irradiation of packages -- our shipments to our retailers are sent by UPS to all locations.
I have a family history of about 100% women with fibroid tumors and cancer- so I am trying to stay as far away from estrogen (other than what I naturally produce) as I can. What is the source of your oils? All wheat germ? You say no soy, that’s GREAT, what about flax- I don't want that either. Regarding the source and contents of our Mixed Tocopherols – the source for the product is soy bean oil. However, A.C. Grace uses a proprietary distillation process that extracts all soy oil out of the Vitamin E oil, thus providing a pure, natural form. So, inside the capsule or pump bottle is a pure, natural concentrate mix of alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherols with no fillers, additives, colors, wheat, gluten soy oil, soy protein or flax. Our capsules are a beef gelatin. The pump bottle is perfect for use if you do not wish to consume the beef gelatin capsule.
How long does the oil concentrate last? Also, I've been ordering the same kind of E from your company for over 16 years. It looks like the same product as what you seem to be promoting as new here on your website: The Mixed Tocopherols Concentrate. What is the difference from my bottle and yours? To answer your question – the OIL product is the exact same MIXED TOCOPHEROLS oil that comes in the capsules you normally buy. If you have no difficulty swallowing capsules and are happy with the product you have been ordering all these years, you may want to keep buying the capsules. We developed the OIL in the pump bottle for use as a TOPICAL (so people do not have to cut open our capsules to apply to skin), and for vegetarians, people who do not wish to swallow a capsule, and for smaller adjustable dosing for children and pets. There is the equivalent of 24 capsules in the 1oz bottle.
What is better UNIQUE E® Mixed Tocopherols Concentrate - 120 Softgels or UNIQUE E® Tocotrienols - 60 Softgels? Vitamin E has eight isomers in its molecular chain --- alpha, beta, gamma and delta Tocopherols, and alpha, beta, gamma and delta Tocotrienols. Our products are designed to separate the tocopherols as our MIXED TOCOPHEROLS CONCENTRATE and the tocotrienols (from the Annatto Bean) as our TOCOTRIENOLS. Our doctors inform us that each product has beneficial value to the human body in different ways. They suggest that if you want to choose between the two products, to continue providing the maximum E benefits provided by our MIXED TOCOPHEROLS CONCENTRATE, which have been recognized for over 46 years. However, our Tocotrienols are also very beneficial for specific health area focus such as Diabetes and Cholesterol, among others. They do suggest taking the two products apart from each other (Tocopherols in the morning with your meal, and Tocotrienols in the evening with your meal). More information can be found on our website – www.acgrace.com. As always, with any dietary supplement, it is a good idea to discuss question with your doctor. If you would like us to direct you to one of our doctors who use and provide our E products to their patients, for more information, we will be happy to do that.
What is the source of your Vitamin E? Regarding the source and contents of our Mixed Tocopherols – the source for the product is soybean oil. However, A.C. Grace uses a proprietary distillation process that extracts all soy oil out of the Vitamin E oil, thus providing a pure, natural form. So, inside the capsule or pump bottle is a pure, natural concentrate mix of alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherols with no fillers, additives, colors, wheat, gluten, soy oil, soy protein or flax. Regarding the source and contents of our Tocotrienols – the source for the product is the Annatto Bean. The same processes are used to provide a pure Tocotrienol product with NO additives, etc. Our capsules are a beef gelatin. Our product is certified to be PCR-negative which is the industry recognized classification for products that have been produced, and distilled, to remove any and all contaminates that could affect purity.
What is the serving size of the Unique E? The serving size of our UNIQUE E® Mixed Tocopherols Concentrate is 1 capsule = 700mg and delivers 400 I.U. of Alpha-Tocopherol. The serving size of our UNIQUE E® Tocotrienols is 1 capsule = 125mg.
What would I take of your products to make sure I am getting all 8 parts of vitamin E? Our doctors suggest taking the MIXED TOCOPHEROLS in the morning with your meal and the TOCOTRIENOLS in the evening with your meal. This will give you the full benefits of the eight isomers in vitamin E – alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocopherol, and alpha, beta, gamma and delta tocotrienol. Many studies show that the key isomers in vitamin E are alpha and gamma mostly with delta and beta to a lesser degree.
What is the difference between the tocopherols and the tocotrienols? This is my first time taking vitamin E and am a little confused as to which one to take. How many capsules should I take each day? The serving size of our UNIQUE E® Mixed Tocopherols Concentrate is 1 capsule = 700mg. Our label suggests 1 capsule per day. This is for a standard maintenance program that provides more than the suggest RDA listed by the FDA. If someone is having health issues, additional capsules could be considered. Our dosage recommendations on our website -- Recommended Dosage -- are suggestions from many of the doctors who use and suggest our products. It is always recommended to consult with your doctor when adding anything or changing anything in your diet that may affect any health concerns you may have.
Can I take your Vitamin E while nursing? Most definitely. Since Vitamin E is very poorly transferred across placental membrane. The newborn depends upon the Vitamin E contained in colostrum and milk to meets its Vitamin E needs. Since the mother can not synthesize Vitamin E, she depends upon her diet to meet her Vitamin E needs. It has been shown that supplemental Vitamin E and mixed tocopherols as found in UNIQUE E® are an excellent source of Vitamin E and a very good way to assure that the infant is getting adequate Vitamin E in the milk. As far as toxicity is concerned, there are no data suggesting that pregnant or lactating women should not take Vitamin E supplements.
My question is if this Vitamin E is good for opening blocked arteries in the heart. We can not make recommendations to replace pharmaceuticals. We recommend that you discuss this with your primary health care professional; however we are confident that UNIQUE EV is an excellent source of Vitamin E and furthermore, it has been on the market since 1962. If you do not have a doctor to discuss this with, we may be able to direct you to one of our doctors who understand how Vitamin E interacts with various medications. Also there are many reports available on the Internet. I would suggest going to GOOGLE and do a simple search like -- vitamin E blocked arteries – or -- vitamin E and plaque.
Need to know what are these softgel capsules are made of completely. Our capsules are a beef gelatin. Certified to be free of any concern about “mad cow” issues. As listed on out label, the only contents of the capsule are beef gelatin, glycerin and water.
Does this vitamin E have all 4 tocopherols? Our Mixed Tocopherols is a natural concentrate mix of All FOUR tocopherol isomers (alpha, beta, gamma and delta) with no fillers, additives, colors, wheat, gluten, soy oil, soy protein or flax.
Can I take some coral calcium at the same time I take the vitamin E after a meal? There are many products available on the market that include vitamin E in the same capsule as Coral Calcium. By taking UNIQUE E® you are receiving the maximum benefit a Vitamin E product (Mixed Tocopherols) can provide. And the fact that it is free from fillers that could cause rancidity and free radicals in your body, other supplements you take will be appropriately absorbed according to their benefits. As with any supplement regimen it is always a good idea to discuss any dietary changes with your doctor or nutritionist. If you do not have a doctor you wish to discuss this with, we may be able to direct you to one of the thousands of doctors that use our UNIQUE E®. Also there are many reports available on the Internet. I would suggest going to GOOGLE and do a simple search like – coral calcium and vitamin E.
Will this reverse stage 4 cancer? This question should be discussed with your primary health care professional. If you do not have a doctor to discuss this with, we may be able to direct you to one of our doctors who understand how Vitamin E interacts with various health issues such as cancer. In addition, there are many reports available on the Internet. I would suggest going to GOOGLE and do a simple search like -- vitamin E and cancer.
I was linked to your site from another site describing the Linus Pauling vitamin C recommendation in conjunction with your Vitamin E. Do you believe that these supplements compliment each other well? We understand the Linus Pauling protocol has been very effective with some patients who use it. In fact, we have on the testi monials page of our website a longtime customer, Carol Smith, who has a wonderful story to tell – please see; Testimonials – and scroll to the last testimonial. I am sure Carol would be very willing to share her experiences with you. If would like us to check with her, please let us know.
I know your product says soy free - however, my son reacts to even the tiniest bit of soy - lately I have gotten burned on several items that say *soy free* but they I find out they have some soy lecithin or soy oil in them that cause issues for him. Can you confirm that there is no soy whatsoever for me? Although our product is derived from Soy Beans, it does not contain any soy DNA protein because they are destroyed during distillation. Our product is certified to be PCR-negative which is the industry recognized classification for products that have been produced, and distilled, to remove any and all contaminates that could affect purity. Scientists state that there is no difference between a GMO and non-GMO product that is PCR-negative.
Is it safe to take the mixed tocopherols softgel at the same time as you're taking the tocotrienols supplement? It is safe, however, it is recommended by our doctors that you take your Tocopherols in the morning with your breakfast and take your Tocotrienols in the evening with your dinner (or at least 2 hours apart from each other). It has been found that alpha-tocopherol inhibits the absorption of Tocotrienols in the gut wall, thus rendering the tocotrienols less effective if taken together.
How many 1/4 tsp servings are in a bottle of UNIQUE E Mixed Tocopherols Oil? There are 24 servings (1/4 teaspoon = 400 I.U.) in the1-oz bottle.
I have purchased unique E before, and I do have a question about Vitamin E. I was told in case of headaches, Vitamin E takes the place of any drug such as Advil, Motrin etc...is that true? And if so what form of Vitamin E that you sell would be best? Regarding which of our products would be best for you, we suggest the Mixed Tocopherols Concentrate capsules because they are high Alpha- and Gamma-Tocopherols which provide antioxidant benefits. Also, a good vitamin E product, like UNIQUE E, helps keep the blood thin and increases its oxygenating capabilities. Any question specifically about health situations should be discussed with your primary health care professional. If you do not have a doctor to discuss this with, we may be able to direct you to one of our doctors who understand how vitamin E interacts with various health issues such as headaches. In addition, there are many reports and articles available on the Internet. I would suggest going to GOOGLE and do a simple search like -- vitamin E and headaches.
What about the mixed tocopherols oil? Is that better then taking a capsule? And how long would one bottle last? What is the recommend dosage use? I read that it can be used for the skin as well...but if it’s just used orally how long would one bottle last you? The Mixed Tocopherols Oil is the exact vitamin E oil that is in the capsules. We developed the liquid version for those customers who prefer to not swallow capsules, for vegetarians and for adjustable dosing to children and pets. The TOPICAL benefit is also fantastic for use on wrinkles, burns, wounds, scars, etc. – before we developed the liquid people would cut open the capsules to apply topically, now, with the 1-oz pump bottle you can apply it more easily. Each 1-oz bottle is the equivalent of 24 capsules of 400 I.U. of vitamin E (1/4 teaspoon = 400I.U.). Read about dosage recommendations here -- Recommended Dosage
What is the difference between the Vitamin E you buy in stores on the shelf and your product? Please click on this link -- Why Is UNIQUE E® Unique? -- for a full detailed explanation of the various type of Vitamin E on the market.
Do you feel like vitamin E should be given to children? In our opinion, it is very good to add vitamin E to a child’s diet. So few foods have Vitamin E in them and many people are deficient in it. We have a product that makes it easy to administer small doses to children (who need less than adults) – it is our Liquid version of UNIQUE® E MIXED TOCOPHEROLS -- UNIQUE E® Mixed Tocopherols Oil -- in a 1-oz pump bottle. You could put it in cereal or some other food, or even on a spoon. 1/4 teaspoon (1250 mg) equals 400 I.U. of alpha-tocopherol, so you would want to dose less than that for a child. There are many websites where you can go to see the FDA Recommended Daily Allowance – I have included a chart from one of them here (keep in mind that these are minimums suggested by the government and the milligrams listed are for the alpha only portion of the product): 28 mgs of UNIQUE E® will provide the 9 I.U. of alpha-tocopherol recommended for a child 1-3 years 33 mgs of UNIQUE E® will provide the 10.5 I.U. of alpha-tocopherol recommended for a child 4-8 years 52 mgs of UNIQUE E® will provide the 16.5 I.U. of alpha-tocopherol recommended for a child 9-13 years 70 mgs of UNIQUE E® will provide the 22.5 I.U. of alpha-tocopherol recommended for a child 14-18 years http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/vitaminE/ The Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for RRR-alpha-tocopherol (d-alpha-tocopherol):

I want to dispense a smaller dose of the tocopherol oil. Is it possible to open the top and use a dropper? What type of container does this product come in? I am concerned about plastic leaching. You can dispense from the 1-oz bottle using the pump attached – 1/4 teaspoon equals 1 capsule (400 I.U. of alpha-tocopherol + gamma, beta and delta). You can take the pump off and pour or even use an eye dropper if you wish. We recommend not taking the pump off unless you plan to use the product up with a few months due to the possibility of oxidation. Leaving the pump on protects the product from the air. The container is white opaque glass – we use glass for the very reason you are concerned with.
I was reading that in a recent study (SELECT), it was found that vitamin E may be harmful. Please review our website (especially the page about the different types of Vitamin E on the market today – Recommended Dosage Then, please notice what type of vitamin E was used in the test you refer to: 16. How much vitamin E was being used in SELECT? What risks were involved? The amount of vitamin E (provided as dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate) was 400 milligrams (mg), which is equivalent to 400 International Units (IU) per day. There have been many negative reports about vitamin E over the years, and if you were to do a search on them, you will find that almost all tests use an inferior form of vitamin E as the test material. Read a letter from our founder about the history of Vitamin E and how its REAL benefits have been suppressed for decades -- Founder Letter
I am reading Kevin Trudeau's book and I wanted to know which vitamin E he is referring to as being the best one to take? Kevin Trudeau is talking about our UNIQUE E® MIXED TOCOPHEROLS CONCENTRATE specifically. A.C. Grace has been providing Healthcare Professionals and consumers this pure, natural form of vitamin E for more than 47 years. Doctors in all types of practice use, and recommend our product to their patients because they know it works.
I have heard that vitamin E and other oil vitamin can build in your system is this possible or is this a rumor. Regarding toxicity – many vitamin E products have been shown to build up in the liver. UNIQUE E® is a pure, all-natural form of Vitamin E and contains no additional oils that could do this. Our E gets right to work in your body, and what isn’t used by the cells is passed out of your system and not stored in the liver.
Is the gelatin in your capsules Kosher? What are they made from? The gelatin capsules on our products are BOVINE. They are not Kosher in the sense that they specifically have been certified by a Rabbi, but the gelatin is the best available Kosher product (as is the vitamin E oil) available. The facility where the encapsulation is done is certified Kosher. Another option is to use our Mixed Tocopherols OIL product (with no softgel), which is certified Vegan ad is Kosher friendly.
Do you sell Unique Optimum E Complex? I couldn't find it on your website. The products we list as UNIQUE E® MIXED TOCOPHEROLS are the OPTIMUM E COMPLEX you are asking about.
I have a bottle of Unique E that has probably been around since 2005...what is the shelf life of this product? The bottle is still sealed, by the way. The shelf life of nutritional supplements is indicated near the UPC code on the label. There is normally a date stamp that shows the month and year of “recommended” expiry. We use a 2-year time stamp by regulation. However, because UNIQUE E® is pure, our products have no fillers, diluents, vegetable oil, or other additives that may turn the product rancid. We have product on our shelves that has been around for 5-10 years (and more) and it is still good. What turns vitamin E rancid (causing it to expire) is the additional oils contained along with the vitamin E.? As mentioned before, we do not have any extra oils – it is pure vitamin E oil that does not turn rancid. One of the best ways to check you capsules is to bite into one – it should have a mild bland taste. We are confident that your bottle of UNIQUE E® is just as beneficial as when we encapsulated it.
I have an 87 year old grandfather with congestive heart failure, a pacemaker and renal problems. He also has a stiff heart. Do you think this would help at his age? To answer your question about congestive heart failure and renal problems -- this question should be discussed with your grandfather’s primary health care professional. If you do not have a doctor to discuss this with, we may be able to direct you to one of our doctors that understand how vitamin E interacts with various blood pressure and/or blood thinning medicines. Vitamin E is a natural blood thinner, so it is very important that if he is presently taking prescription medicine for this, that you discuss his options with a healthcare professional that can advise you correctly. Our founder, Roy Erickson, took UNIQUE E® in high doses until he died of old age at the age of 93. Read his feelings here: Founder Letter.
Is there any truth to claims made by AOR (Advanced Orthomolecular Products of Canada) that any vitamin E supplement should contain far more of the gamma fraction than the alpha fraction? They claim that excessive d-alpha will drown out the gamma entirely otherwise. Recent studies show that gamma-tocopherol is more valuable than they have been stating for the past 40 years. It is now understood that a MIXED TOCOPHEROLS COMPLEX with high gamma and high alpha actually help each other work more synergistically and provide higher benefit. There is an abstract about this here: http://www.cababstractsplus.org/abstracts/Abstract.aspx?AcNo=20053224348. Our founder, Roy Erickson, knew this when he developed UNIQUE E® MIXED TOCOPHEROLS COMPLEX almost 50 YEARS AGO! That is why our products are recognized as the STANDARD IN VITAMIN E by thousands of doctors and patients who understand that most testing done over the past several decades has been done using inferior forms of vitamin E, and that the negative press about vitamin E is unmerited. The discussion about alpha drowning out gamma may be speaking to TOCOTRIENOLS as part of a TOCOPHEROL mix. Alpha-tocopherol WILL inhibit the assimilation of TOCOTRIENOLS in the body. That is why we recommend taking your full dose of UNIQUE E® MIXED TOCOPHEROLS (which is high-gamma) in the morning with your meal, and your full dose of UNIQUE E® TOCOTRIENOLS in the evening with your meal. To benefit the most from your supplement ingestion it is best to take them at least hours apart – but we suggest doing it with meals. Read about dosage recommendations here: Recommended Dosage
Is there a synergistic relationship of UNIQUE E with fish oil? Should they be taken together or separately? Is there an ideal fish oil dose in relation to the Unique-E recommended doses? The UNIQUE E® & fish oil relationship is not actually a synergy but rather a protection. The oil easily oxidizes and become damaging rather than helpful. Having an adequate level of E complex in the blood serves to protect the oil so that it can circulate around and do its extremely beneficial job without quickly oxidizing. As long as you take an adequate dose of UNIQUE E® every day, so that it is always in your blood stream (it will be there for 24 hours+) there is no particular need to take it at the same time that you take your fish oil. I recommend that oil based supplements are probably best absorbed when taken with larger fatty meals as a general rule.
I am looking for an un-esterified all natural mixed tocopherol form of vitamin E. Is this what your product contains? YES! UNIQUE E® MIXED TOCOPHEROLS CONCENTRATE is un-esterified, pure, natural and high in gamma- and alpha-tocopherol, with proprietary amounts of beta- and delta-tocopherol. It is the full complex of tocopherols as obtained through diet and used by the body. Because it is pure – with NO allergens, fillers, colors, etc. – it provides maximum Vitamin E benefit to the body.
Please advise if there is any Vitamin D in this product. NONE WHATSOEVER! UNIQUE E® MIXED TOCOPHEROLS CONCENTRATE is PURE Vitamin E Oil only!
Will this product thin the blood too much at 400 IUs per day? Or can it replace the Warfarin (Coumadin)?? This question should be discussed with your primary health care professional. If you do not have a doctor to discuss this with, we may be able to direct you to one of our doctors that understand how vitamin E interacts with various blood thinning medicines such as Coumadin/Warfarin. Vitamin E is a natural blood thinner, so it is very important that since you are presently taking prescription medicine for this, that you discuss your options with a healthcare professional that can advise you correctly. If you do not have a doctor or nutritionist that you can talk to, we may be able to suggest one of our trusted partners in your area.
I would like to use Unique E as a skin care product, on my face. Do you recommend this? By all means! For 47 years our customers have been using our UNIQUE E® on their faces! That is why we introduced a 1-oz bottle to help deliver the product without having to cut or prick the capsule (although you can still do this). UNIQUE E® is high in GAMMA and ALPHA Tocopherols which have been shown to work so well together for skin care as well as internal health. Doctors use our UNIQUE E® on burn patients, wounds, scars and as a moisturizer. The product is very thick, so if you want to thin it you can use Glycerin or Aloe Vera Gel to do this. The product will still absorb into your skin very effectively. Also, we are happy to INTRODUCE A BRAND NEW PRODUCT specifically for your skin. It is a MOISTURIZER infused with UNIQUE E® – with ALL-NATURAL ingredients. We are excited about this product because we have had so many requests such as yours and strive to provide the very best products to our friends! Check it out here -- UNIQUE E® Natural Moisturizer
I am interested in UNIQUE E® concentrate as I am a vegetarian. How palatable is taking the oil straight? Because our Vitamin E Oil is pure and natural with nothing else in it, it has a very bland (non-descript) taste. It will not taste rancid or harsh due to the fact that all impurities have been distilled out. We have many customers who put their E in their cereal. If you take it orally, you may wish to follow it with a piece of food which will break down the oil that may be left in your mouth.
Is this product vegetarian? To answer your question – YES, the oil inside the capsules is Certified Vegetarian. The capsule itself is beef soft gelatin. Our OIL product is fully Vegen. You can cut open the capsules if you’d like. We also have the same E in a 1-oz pump bottle made specifically for people who wish to have a vegetarian form and for those that do not wish to swallow a capsule.
With the capsules, is it possible to squeeze the vitamin E out of the capsule onto a spoon and take it this way? YES! People have been doing that for almost 50 years if they do not wish to take the beef gelatin capsule. You can even put it in your cereal. People also cut open capsules to use our UNIQUE E® as a topical application for wounds, scars, burns, stretch-marks, etc. We also have the VERY SAME vitamin E in our 1-oz pump bottle – designed specifically for people like you who do not wish to consume a capsule, or may enjoy vegetarian products.
Do the mixed tocopherols need to be stored in the refrigerator after opening? No they don't -- but we do recommend keeping them in a cool, dry cupboard away from heat and sun.
I was told that I could obtain delta tocotrienol from you. What does your Unique E tocotrienol capsules include??? The ingredients are: Pure Annatto Tocotrienol (90% delta-tocotrienol and 10% gamma-tocotrienol), beef gelatin, glycerin, and water (for the capsule). |
