School is starting in some form or fashion around the country and most parents have realized that School Supply lists during a Global Pandemic look slightly different. This is one indicator that our children and their families are facing a new normal this back to school season.

Families are thinking more about health this school year more than ever before. It may be true that children are less likely to get sick from COVID-19 as compared to adults, but they are by no means immune.

Children can become infected and they can spread the virus very quickly. This not only impacts the children and their fellow students, but the people that they are around at home including their siblings, parents, and extended family.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention has suggested a new normal for schools if they return to in-person instruction. Here is what they have advised about shared objects in a classroom setting:

  • Discourage sharing of items that are difficult to clean or disinfect.
  • Keep each child’s belongings separated from others’ and in individually labeled containers, cubbies, or areas.
  • Ensure adequate supplies to minimize sharing of high-touch materials to the extent possible or limit use of supplies and equipment by one group of children at a time and clean and disinfect between use.
  • Avoid sharing electronic devices, toys, books, and other games or learning aids.

The new normal is a place where immunity is extremely important. Everyone is impacted. From 8 to 80.

Sudden Spike

According to recent reports, among US children, there has been a 90% increase in Covid-19 cases in the last four weeks. This is a dramatic increase in coronavirus cases among children in the United States, according to a report from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The association noted a 90% increase in pediatric cases over four weeks.

From July 9th to August 6th, total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in children across the country went from 200,184 to 380,174 – an increase of 179,990 new cases, according to the AAP.

School Systems

It is important to not only consider the children impacted, but the educators and leadership that are impacted, as well. Some have indicated that nearly a quarter of the teachers working in the United States school system are at higher risk of serious illness from COVID-19, either because of age or pre-existing conditions.

Serious Situations

Some school districts and some parents are reluctant to have in-person instruction this soon with the numbers still on the rise. As more and more schools start to reopen, will the headlines increasingly become full of quarantines and closures?

Many are divided nationwide on the pros and the cons, the benefits and the liabilities. Regardless of where your heart and mind are on this complex situation, A.C. Grace Company is committed to our role to be a resource for you and the health and wellness of your family.

Soluble Supplement

The Vitamin E Complex plays a role with the immune system.* Vitamin E is an important vitamin that acts as a powerful antioxidant, which helps to protect cells against damage caused by free radicals. Vitamin E is essential for children’s health and development, especially in times like these.*

Our children depend on their parents and loved ones to provide their basic needs for security, love and a healthy diet. There are many products on store shelves that target children. Many of them are good products that can provide benefits to them as they grow. There are also many that are not the best for them. That is why children depend on us to know what is best for them.

You might consider Aqua-E ® is a dietary supplement that supplies the complete vitamin E family of tocopherols and tocotrienols in a micellized, water-soluble form that is ready for absorption. Aqua-E ® is odorless and has a neutral taste. It mixes easily with most beverages and water and dosing can be adjusted to meet the needs of children. Stay safe and let us be a resource for you as you keep your children healthy in the new normal.
